Tail of the Dragon
318 curves in 11 miles. The most photographed motorcycle road in America for a reason. Best ridden mid-week, early morning, before the cruisers and the photographers show up.
14 rides across our coverage. Tap any one to drop the start/end into the planner — Throttle figures out the curvy line between them and where to stop.

The Dragon's quieter cousin. Higher elevation, longer sweepers, fewer cars. Pair it with the Dragon for a 100-mile loop through the Smokies that nobody on a sportbike forgets.
The longest scenic road in the US. Ridge-line riding, no commercial traffic, 45 mph speed limit that you'll keep because the views demand it. Plan for 2-3 days end-to-end with overnights along the way.
The Carmel-to-San-Simeon stretch of CA-1. Cliffs on one side, Pacific on the other, and the kind of corners that reward a good throttle hand. Check for closures — landslides have a vote on this road.
Switchbacks above 10,000 ft on the way into Yellowstone's northeast entrance. Open roughly Memorial Day to mid-October — snow doesn't care about your trip plans. Bring layers.
Glacier National Park's spine. Vehicle-length limit (21 ft) keeps it bike-friendly and RV-free. Logan Pass at the top is worth a stop even if you never stop for anything.
US-550 between Silverton and Ouray. No guardrails, three 11k-ft passes, and corners that want your full attention. Short, intense, unforgettable. Save it for a clear day.
FM 335, 336, and 337 in the Texas Hill Country. The closest thing the Plains have to mountain riding — fast sweepers, low-speed bends, and almost no cell signal. Fuel up in Medina before you start.
Cape Breton's coast-and-highlands loop. Atlantic on one side, fishing villages on the other, and twisty climbs through Cape Breton Highlands National Park in the middle. Two days minimum if you want to ride it instead of just complete it.
Lake Louise to Jasper through the Canadian Rockies. Glaciers, turquoise lakes, and mountain passes that don't look real even when you're standing in them. Fuel is sparse — top up at Saskatchewan River Crossing or you'll find out the hard way.
The old Mex-40 free road from Durango toward Mazatlán — "the Devil's Backbone." Take the libre, not the cuota toll. Switchbacks, ridges, sheer drops, and the kind of quiet that the toll-road bypass left behind. Daylight only.
High-altitude Himalayan crossing — passes above 17,000 ft, four of them. Open roughly June to September. Acclimatize, ride in groups, and treat the weather forecast as scripture. The reference Indian moto trip for a reason.
Shimla → Kinnaur → Spiti → Manali. Cold-desert valley riding, monasteries clinging to cliffs, and roads that occasionally remember they're roads. Less crowded than Manali-Leh, just as serious. Plan for 7-10 days.
The classic Western Ghats weekend ride. Skip the expressway — take the old highway through Khandala for the ghat sections, the chai stalls, and the monsoon waterfalls. Best ridden June-September if you don't mind the rain.
Tell us about it. We add rides as riders send them in, with a preference for roads that don't already have a Wikipedia article.
